Erbil International Airport Resumes Qatar Airways Flights

Erbil Airport announced, that the first Qatar Airways passenger flight has departed from Doha International Airport and is scheduled to land at 1:30pm Saturday.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The director of Erbil International Airport announced on Saturday, that according to the airport’s scheduled flights, the first Qatar Airways passenger flight has departed from Doha International Airport and is scheduled to land at Erbil International Airport at 1:30pm today.

In a statement to Kurdistan24, Ahmed Hoshyar, Erbil International Airport Director, said: “after an hour the same aircraft will begin its return flight from Erbil to Doha.”

Previously the Qatari Airline had announced that starting on the 8th of this month, it would resume normal operations to Erbil, Baghdad, and Basra, after all the flights were suspended due to regional tension and conflict on July 24th.

As regional tensions eased and with the reopening of airspace over Kurdistan region, seven commercial passenger flights landed at Erbil International Airport between 5:00 AM to 11:25 AM, Saturday:

EgyptAir: Cairo Airport to Erbil

Ur Airlines: Cologne Airport to Erbil

Royal Jordanian Airlines: Amman Airport to Erbil

Pegasus Airlines: Istanbul Airport to Erbil

Flight XH521: Damascus Airport to Erbil

Iraqi Airways: Baghdad Airport to Erbil

Flydubai: Dubai Airport to Erbil

Additionally, several other scheduled flights heading to Erbil are currently in route, with only one UR Airlines flight from London to Erbil canceled.
