US Forces Strike Iranian IRGC Targets Near Strait of Hormuz
US forces launched strikes on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in Iran, while Iranian media reported multiple explosions across southern areas of the country.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - US forces launched a new wave of strikes against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran on Tuesday, targeting several military positions in areas surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, according to CENTCOM.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X that the strikes began at noon Eastern Time and targeted IRGC positions in Iran. It said the operation followed recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and American service members deployed to the region.
Meanwhile, Iranian television reported five explosions on Qeshm Island and in the Strait of Hormuz.
Tasnim News Agency also reported explosions in Konarak and Qeshm.
According to Tasnim, local sources reported hearing six explosions in Konarak at around 7:30 p.m., while the agency said authorities had not yet confirmed the scale of damage or the precise locations of the explosions.
A Tasnim correspondent on Qeshm Island reported hearing eight explosions along the southern coast of the island between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m.
Some unofficial news reports also said explosions were heard from Qeshm Airport.
Tasnim's correspondent in Bandar Abbas additionally reported hearing explosions in parts of Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
