Bomb-Laden Drones Target Refugee Camp in Sulaimani

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Security Agency announced on Monday that the Surdash refugee camp in Sulaimani province had been targeted by three bomb-laden drones early in the morning, with no casualties reported.

According to a statement issued by the agency on Sept. 7, the attacks took place over a period of approximately 20 minutes.

The first strike occurred at around 4:45 a.m., while the series of attacks continued until approximately 5:05 a.m.

The agency said three bomb-laden drones targeted the refugee camp during that period.

Despite the attack on the camp, no deaths or injuries were reported.

The incident comes as the Kurdistan Region continues to face repeated drone attacks since the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran began on Feb. 28, 2026.

According to the official data, more than 1,000 drone attacks have targeted the Kurdistan Region since the beginning of the conflict.

Those strikes have targeted residential areas, economic infrastructure and government institutions across the Region.

The attacks have caused dozens of casualties and extensive material damage to residents and property.

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has repeatedly condemned the attacks against the Region and stressed that the Kurdistan Region is not a party to the ongoing war.

"We are not a party to this war, and the attacks on the Kurdistan Region must stop," Prime Minister Barzani has said in response to the repeated strikes.

Monday morning's attack on the Surdash refugee camp is the latest reported drone incident in the Kurdistan Region.

The Kurdistan Security Agency said the three drones struck the camp within a short period before the attacks ended shortly after 5 a.m.

No casualties were recorded despite the camp being directly targeted.

The agency did not report any further consequences from the attack in its statement.
