Kurdistan Region Education Minister Praises Government Support
Alan Hama Saeed marked the Kurdistan Region's new school year as over 1.7 million students returned to 7,590 schools, with 19 million new books ready.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Region Education Minister Alan Hama Saeed said on Sunday that the presence of the head of government at the ceremony marking the start of the new school year is a sign of great attention to schools and to all educational institutions across the Kurdistan Region.
The minister added that the government's continued support for the education process is a strong motivator for raising scientific and educational standards in the area and for making this school year a success.
According to official figures from the Ministry of Education, the school year is under way in 7,590 schools, where more than 1.7 million students have returned to their classrooms. Among them, more than 123,000 are taking their seats in the first grade of primary school for the first time. The process is supervised by 168,000 teachers and staff.
On educational supplies, the ministry has prepared 19 million new books for students. To raise the quality of education, changes have also been made to 110 textbooks and curricula.
The Kurdistan Regional Government's ninth cabinet has also focused on the education sector, and the sector's infrastructure has grown during its tenure. In that time, 236 schools and kindergartens have been built, 2,650 schools have been renovated, and 476 new classrooms have been added.
All of this was done to provide a more suitable and better environment for students and the learning process across the Kurdistan Region.
