President Barzani Receives Honorary President Of International Democrat Union
President Masoud Barzani received British figure and International Democrat Union honorary president Lord Michael Ashcroft in Erbil, with discussions covering the Kurdish cause, the Kurdistan Region, and political developments in Iraq.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - President Masoud Barzani received British figure and honorary president of the International Democrat Union (IDU) Lord Michael Ashcroft on Tuesday, for talks on developments in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, the Kurdish cause, and efforts to strengthen international understanding of the region.
Ashcroft expressed his pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and praised the steps and efforts being made toward development, stability, and prosperity in the region.
He stressed the need to better present the reality of the Kurdistan Region and the justness of the Kurdish cause at the international level. He also praised the significant sacrifices made by the Peshmerga forces in the war against ISIS terrorists.
President Barzani welcomed his guest and provided an overview of the struggle and sacrifices of the people of Kurdistan over the past century.
He also highlighted the rich and deeply rooted culture of coexistence among the people of Kurdistan, emphasizing the principle that the Kurdish cause should be resolved through dialogue and peaceful means.
The talks also addressed the latest developments in Iraq.
President Barzani stressed the need for all parties to adhere to the constitution as a means of consolidating stability and resolving outstanding issues and disputes.
