Trump Tells Kurdistan24 Iran's Situation Is Not Good
US President Donald Trump told Kurdistan24 that Iran's situation is not good, US plans are going well, and new steps toward Tehran will be seen soon.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - US President Donald Trump has told Kurdistan24 that Iran's situation is "not good" at present, saying Washington's plans are unfolding very well and that new steps toward Tehran will be seen soon.
Trump made the remarks Friday, in response to a question from Kurdistan24 Washington Bureau Chief Rahim Rashidi, about Washington's next move toward Iran. He did not reveal what that step might be.
Asked what his next step toward Iran would be, Trump answered with a smile, and a question of his own. "If I told you now, it would be very big story for you, wouldn't it? But you'll see for yourselves; everything is going very well, and Iran's situation is not good," he said.
Before the question was put to him, the US president warmly welcomed the Kurdistan24 correspondent. He noted that the reporter "always asks the same question about the same country, but he's a very good man."
When Asked about people saying that he never gets Tired, Trump replied with a laugh. "I never get tired; if I get tired, that would be big story," he said.
Trump's remarks to Kurdistan24 come as tensions between Washington and Tehran, on both the military and economic fronts, have reached a peak. The US has intensified its economic pressure and sanctions on different sectors of Iran and has tightened its control of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
For now, Washington has offered no detail on the steps Trump says are coming. Peace and regional stability remain the shared objective of all parties, and the Kurdistan Region and its civilians stand to be affected most by any escalation.
