ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — President Masoud Barzani on Monday received Saladin Governor Haitham al-Zahwan in Erbil’s Pirmam district, with the two sides discussing political and administrative developments in Iraq.

According to a statement from Barzani’s headquarters, the meeting focused on Iraq’s political landscape, the state of public services, and coordination between Iraq’s provinces.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of cooperation and coordination among provincial administrations in addressing shared challenges and improving services for citizens.

Saladin, a predominantly Sunni Arab province north of Baghdad, has faced significant challenges in rebuilding infrastructure and restoring public services following years of conflict with Islamic State (ISIS). The province includes Tikrit, the provincial capital, as well as areas that were heavily affected by the group’s takeover of large parts of northern and western Iraq in 2014.

The meeting comes as Iraq’s provincial administrations continue to play an important role in delivering public services and implementing development projects, while political forces negotiate over the country’s broader administrative and economic priorities.
