Trump Says US Will Decide on Iran ‘Very Soon,’ Calls Country’s Economy Failed

WASHINGTON (Kurdistan24) — US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Washington would make a decision on Iran “very soon,” describing the country as economically weakened and claiming that its government was struggling to pay its military personnel.
Trump made the remarks in response to a question from Rahim Rashidi, Kurdistan24’s Washington Bureau Chief, during a press conference at the White House.
“Iran is a failed country. They have no economy. They have 300% inflation. They have no money. They're not paying their troops. They're not paying their— they're not paying anybody. We'll make a decision on Iran very soon,” Trump said.
The president did not specify what decision his administration was considering or provide a timeline beyond saying it would come “very soon.”
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s regional activities, economic situation, and the wider security crisis in the Middle East. US policy toward Iran has combined economic sanctions and pressure with demands concerning Tehran’s regional influence and security policies.
Iran’s economy has faced persistent challenges, including high inflation, currency depreciation, and the effects of international sanctions.
The prospect of a new US decision on Iran could have implications for regional security, energy markets, and diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation. Iran’s strategic position along the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments, also makes developments involving Tehran significant for international energy supplies.
Trump’s statement did not clarify whether the anticipated decision would involve further economic measures, diplomatic initiatives, or military action.
