ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iranian media reported on Thursday that Tehran had received a letter from US Vice President JD Vance but had not yet responded, as diplomatic efforts continue to revive peace talks between the two countries.
Iran's Tasnim news agency reported that “Iran has received the letter but has not yet responded.” Fars news agency also reported the development, citing a source familiar with the matter.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Vance sent the letter to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, through Qatari mediators on Sunday.
The diplomatic outreach comes amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran and efforts to prevent a renewed escalation of the conflict.
The letter reportedly seeks to assess whether the two sides can reach common ground to avert further US military action against Iran.
The reported correspondence comes less than a week before the US congressional midterm elections scheduled for November 3. US President Donald Trump has warned of possible military action if diplomatic efforts fail, while reports indicate that Washington has been repositioning military assets in the Middle East in preparation for potential strikes.
