Erbil Provincial Council Congratulates Kurdistan24 on 11th Anniversary
Erbil Provincial Council chairman Ali Rashid Khoshnaw marks Kurdistan24's 11th anniversary, praising its journalism, digital innovation and public trust.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Erbil Provincial Council congratulated Kurdistan24 on its 11th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 31, praising the broadcaster's contribution to journalism, public awareness and the representation of the Kurdistan Region beyond its borders.
In a message addressed to Kurdistan24's Director General, journalists, staff and viewers, council chairman Ali Rashid Xoshnaw commended the organization's professional development since it began broadcasting and acknowledged its efforts to adopt new technology without compromising editorial standards.
"Over the past 11 years, through professional work, an innovative vision and a strong sense of national responsibility, Kurdistan24 has succeeded in establishing a prominent and trusted position and has become an effective bridge for conveying the voice of Kurdistan to Iraq, the region and the world," Xoshnaw said.
The council chairman described Kurdistan24's contribution as extending beyond daily news coverage. In his assessment, the organization has helped strengthen public awareness and a culture of coexistence, brought attention to the Kurdistan Region's achievements and provided a platform for defending citizens' legitimate rights.
His remarks came as the Kurdistan24 Corporation for Research and Media marked 11 years since its launch, which coincided with the war against ISIS. The broadcaster operates in Kurdish and five other international languages, serving audiences inside the Kurdistan Region and abroad.
The institution also identifies safeguarding the Kurdistan Region's constitutional status as part of its national mission, alongside efforts to encourage coexistence across society.
Xoshnaw also highlighted the challenges and opportunities presented by changing media technology. He praised the organization's use of digital tools and artificial intelligence, while emphasizing the importance of editorial credibility.
"It is commendable that Kurdistan24, by making use of modern tools and artificial intelligence, has been able to maintain its pioneering and innovative role while at the same time making the principles of truthfulness, accuracy and public trust the foundation of its work," he said.
The anniversary comes as Kurdistan24 enters its 12th year with a stated emphasis on accuracy, respect for human dignity and the privacy of families, and caution against sensationalism. Its editorial principles also include promoting hope, considering the psychological well-being of society and taking steps to limit misinformation associated with the use of artificial intelligence.
Alongside those commitments, the corporation is pursuing further digital development and investment in the skills of younger journalists. The plans are intended to strengthen its ability to operate across changing media platforms while maintaining the national and professional principles it identifies as central to its work.
Xoshnaw concluded his anniversary message by expressing appreciation for the organization's employees and their work over the preceding 11 years. He wished the leadership, journalists and other staff continued progress in their service to the public.
His message placed particular emphasis on the relationship between technological development and public confidence, describing both as important to Kurdistan24’s continuing work as a Kurdish media institution.
