According to a statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister's Office, the two leaders emphasized the importance of coordination and consultation between Baghdad and Washington in addressing ongoing challenges.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Thursday, discussing regional developments, security conditions, and prospects for the future.

According to a statement from the Iraqi Prime Minister's Office, the two leaders emphasized the importance of coordination and consultation between Baghdad and Washington in addressing ongoing challenges.

Their discussions also focused on supporting regional stability and promoting dialogue and diplomacy as means of resolving crises, containing tensions, and preventing further escalation of conflicts.

During the call, al-Zaidi reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to respecting state sovereignty and ensuring that Iraqi territory is not used as a launching point for attacks against neighboring countries.

He also stressed the importance of pursuing peaceful solutions and constructive dialogue to safeguard regional security and stability.

At the conclusion of the conversation, both sides underscored the need to maintain communication and coordinate their positions on issues of mutual interest, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and advancing shared interests.

The United States officially completed its military withdrawal from Iraq on September 30, following a deadline reaffirmed during al-Zaidi's official visit to Washington, D.C., in July. The withdrawal marked the conclusion of the US-led military mission in Iraq, although security cooperation between the two countries continues.
