Iran Rejects Ceasefire, Reaffirms Defensive Measures
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei rejected U.S. ceasefire proposals on April 6, 2026, describing them as enabling renewed enemy aggression. He criticized U.S. and Israeli attacks on universities and civilian sites, questioned the credibility of American diplomatic claims, and detailed ongoing regional security measures.
Baqaei emphasized Iran’s coordination with Oman, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan on safe transit protocols and regional communications, underscored legal accountability for threats and attacks, and confirmed unified domestic governance in defending national sovereignty. He highlighted ongoing measures to protect Iranian nationals abroad and reiterated that all defensive and diplomatic actions are grounded in national interests and international law.
