EU Chief Says Targeting Civilian Infrastructure ‘Illegal’
European Council President Antonio Costa said strikes on civilian infrastructure are “illegal and unacceptable,” in a social media post cited by AFP. He said the principle applies universally, including in the current conflict involving Iran, and warned civilians would bear the cost of any escalation.
His remarks followed threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to target Iranian energy infrastructure if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened.
