ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Friday expressed his condolences for the victims of devastating floods in Europe that have killed over 100 people.

“My thoughts are with the victims of the heavy flooding in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands and their families,” Barzani tweeted, saying his government sends its “sincerest condolences” to the victims of the devastating floods.

At least 118 people have been killed across Europe after heavy rainfall this week, and hundreds more remain missing. A landslide in northern Germany swept away houses and killed several people, AFP reported on Friday.

In Belgium, 21,000 people are without electricity due to the storms, while thousands of people have evacuated their homes in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Germany has been hit the hardest by the disaster, with 93 people dead there alone. German officials have put the spotlight on climate change, warning of more severe weather in the future.
