ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdish politician Hoshyar Zebari on Sunday said that the Iraqi Federal Supreme Court's decision to exclude him from running for the presidency is "political" and "unjust."

Zebari's statement came during a press conference in the Iraqi capital after the top court's announcement that it had terminated the candidacy of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) official for the Iraqi presidency as he does not meet the necessary conditions for the position.

He said that, in fact, he does meet the needed requirements and, while welcoming the move, he called it "political and unjust," but added that "life will continue" and it "is not the end of the world."

The KDP official, a former Iraqi foreign minister, stressed that the courts had acquitted him of all corruption charges.
