Kurdistan Region CTD hands over two ISIS suspects to Nineveh court

The CTD said it arrested the two ISIS suspects, Faris Nouri Mohammad Ghadeer and Abdulkarim Nouri Mohammad Ghadeer, on Oct. 21, 2021.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region's Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) handed over two terrorist suspects to the investigative court in Iraq's Nineveh province on Sunday.

The CTD said it arrested the two ISIS suspects, Faris Nouri Mohammad Ghadeer and Abdulkarim Nouri Mohammad Ghadeer, on Oct. 21, 2021. 

The CTD said on its official Facebook page that they handed over the two suspects on Sunday at the request of the Nineveh Investigative Court.

Also, on Feb. 15, the Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service announced the arrest of five ISIS suspects in a coordinated operation with the internal security forces (Asayish) in Erbil.

In a statement on its official Facebook page, the agency highlighted the "fruitful coordination" between the Kurdish and Iraqi forces as they captured the five suspected members of the terrorist organization. 

In 2018, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) handed over hundreds of imprisoned ISIS suspects to Baghdad.

The Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) is part of the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC). It was established in 2011 pursuant to Law 4 of 2011 passed by the Kurdistan Parliament.
