The Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment, the Deputy Minister for Trade Affairs, and other government officials attended the event.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On Thursday, a ceremony marked the initiation of potato chip exports from the Kurdistan Region to Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
The Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment, the Deputy Minister for Trade Affairs, and other government officials attended the event.
The export amounted to 10,000 cartons of potato chips, shipped in five trucks to their destinations.
In a joint press conference, Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment, and Sarwar Hawari, the Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Trade and Industry representative, announced the start of marketing the region's chips products abroad.
Mohammed Shukri highlighted the importance of the agricultural sector's revival and development, which has increased potato production and chip exports.
"This was the product and vision that the prime minister had for the development of the agricultural sector, and now part of this domestic product is exported abroad," Shukri said.
He emphasized that the Kurdistan Regional Government aims to produce all food and supplies locally and export surplus products to generate revenue.
Sarwar Hawari described the export initiative as a significant step for the economic and trade development of the Kurdistan Region, fulfilling one of the promises made by the ninth cabinet to traders and farmers.
"This chips factory is an important step and has employed both the agricultural and commercial sectors. Most of the workers are local, making it a reliable and income-generating industry," he added.
Hawari further explained that this development could foster better traders and business practices, contributing to regional income diversification.
