ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) - Some of the Internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Mosul in the Kurdistan Region take advantage of a Kurdistan24 Satellite News Gathering (SNG) live vehicle to charge their mobile phones as they lack electricity in the camp.
On Friday, the IDPs in the camp of Hassan Sham located on the west of Erbil told Kurdistan24 that as the autumn rain starts, the roof of the shelters leak and the homes turn damp and cold.
They also mentioned that they lack the electricity supply and cannot call their family and relatives because the batteries of IDPs' mobile phones die quickly.
As Zardasht Hamid, a Kurdistan24 correspondent was interviewing some of the IDPs, tens of other displaced people were connecting their mobiles phones to Kurdistan24 SNG vehicle power to re-charge their batteries.
According to Hamid, every time Kurdistan24 SNG goes to the camp, IDPs try to recharge mobiles so that they can contact their families and relatives inside Mosul.
With the population of six million, Kurdistan Region is home to over 1.8 million IDPs, who escaped from the Islamic State (IS) in Syria and other parts of Iraq.
On October 17, Iraqi and Kurdish Peshmerga forces launched a military operation to liberate Mosul, the second-largest city that IS occupied in June 2014. The offensive is ongoing and forces have so far freed about 20 percent of the city from the jihadist group.
