Ezidi MP reveals identity of arrested woman in Mosul’s Old City
Sources from the Iraqi Intelligence confirmed identity of the arrested IS member.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – An Ezidi MP from the Iraqi parliament said on Monday that contrary to reports, the woman arrested by the Iraqi forces in Mosul was not an Ezidi but was a German citizen recruited by the Islamic State (IS).
Viyan Dakhil, a Kurdish Ezidi MP in the Iraqi Parliament, said the young woman arrested by the Iraqi forces in Mosul’s was not a kidnapped Ezidi despite rumors.
Conflicting reports dominated the media when a young woman was arrested in Mosul's Old City.
Some claimed she was one of the thousand kidnapped Ezidi women while some other claimed that she was a Russian citizen.
Dakhil in a tweet revealed that an Islamic State (IS) sniper had been arrested alongside with other extremists in Mosul and she was from Germany, ending all speculations.
Sources from the Iraqi Intelligence confirmed to Kurdistan24 the German identity of the arrested IS member stating that she had been transferred to Baghdad for further investigations without disclosing further details about her identity or health.
