Kurdistan Region’s Erbil announces 12 new cases of COVID-19
The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health registered on Monday 12 new cases of the coronavirus in Erbil, bringing the total confirmed cases in the region to 76.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health registered on Monday 12 new cases of the coronavirus in Erbil, bringing the total confirmed cases in the region to 76.
The statement from the Ministry of Health also said that nine of the new cases that tested positive for the coronavirus were related to a person that was infected in the Sibiran residential complex in Erbil on Sunday, and the other three interacted with a student who was held in quarantine before.
The Ministry of Health put a residential complex west of the capital of the Kurdistan Region, Erbil, under quarantine on Sunday. The decision came after an individual returned from Iran illegally without being tested or held in quarantine for having the coronavirus.
A source inside the ministry told local media that the news of the exposure came from a citizen inside the complex. The source added that the ministry is examining the entire complex’s population of over 5,000 people.
According to the latest update by the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Health, there are a total of 76 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including one dead and 13 fully who have recovered.
