Kurdistan top officials congratulate Maliki on re-election as head of Islamic Dawa Party
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani offered Maliki his "warmest congratulations and blessings," a statement from Barzani's office said.
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Top officials from the Kurdistan Region on Sunday congratulated Nouri al-Maliki, the former Iraqi prime minister, on his re-election as the Secretary-General of the Islamic Dawa Party.
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani offered Maliki his "warmest congratulations and blessings," a statement from Barzani's office said. He also wished Maliki and his party "further progress and success."
In his statement on the occasion, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani said, "I extend my warmest congratulations to you and the entire leadership, members and followers of the party. We wish you continued success."
The president also affirmed Erbil's commitment to "cooperation and common understanding" among all of Iraq's different groups and parties "to overcome difficulties and solve problems for the sake of a better present and future for the country."
