KDP President Masoud Barzani, top British diplomat discuss Kurdish territories outside Kurdistan Region control

During the meeting, the latest developments in the region and Iraq were discussed.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday discussed Kurdish territories outside Kurdistan Region control with British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Charles Hitchen, according to a statement from the Barzani Headquarters.

During the meeting, the latest developments in the region and Iraq were discussed, as well as the progress and positive understandings that have been reached between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi government to resolve Erbil-Baghdad's outstanding issues.

As well as discussing the situation in the Kurdish territories outside Kurdistan Region control, both sides agreed that appropriate solutions must be found to address the security and political challenges in these territories.

Developments, changes, the security and political situation in the region in general and the Middle East in particular were another topic of the meeting.

As an integral part of the 86-member of Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Britain has been assisting the Kurdish and Iraqi forces in the fight against the terror group, whose self-styled caliphate was brought down in 2017 in the country.

A number of Kurdish cadres have been provided opportunities by London to study at the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, including two female Peshmerga officers.
