Extreme temperatures forecasted for seven Iraqi governorates
Iraq is one of the countries severely impacted by rising temperatures and climate change.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Monday, the Iraqi Meteorological Authority announced the weather forecast for the coming days, predicting that seven governorates will experience extreme temperatures tomorrow.
In a statement, the authority said, “The weather for tomorrow, Tuesday, will be fair, turning partly cloudy in the central region, with temperatures similar to the previous day. Visibility will range from 6 to 8 kilometers.”
For Wednesday, the authority expects fair weather with dust rising in some parts of the central and southern regions. “Temperatures will remain similar to the previous day, visibility will range from 8 to 10 kilometers, and in dusty conditions, from 4 to 6 kilometers.”
Looking ahead to Thursday, the forecast indicates fair weather with increasing dust in the eastern parts of the central and southern regions. “Temperatures will rise slightly, visibility will be between 8 to 10 kilometers, and in dusty conditions, between 4 to 6 kilometers.”
By Friday, the weather is expected to be hot and partly cloudy in the northern region, with rising dust in the southern region. “Temperatures will rise slightly in the central and northern regions and remain stable in the southern region. Visibility will range from 8 to 10 kilometers, and in dusty conditions, from 4 to 6 kilometers.”
The authority highlighted that the governorates of Wasit, Maysan, Karbala, Diwaniyah, Dhi Qar, Muthanna, and Basra are expected to reach temperatures equivalent to half the boiling point on Tuesday.
