Qaisary Bazaar’s fire incident investigation, updates

Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw revealed that the person who set the fire to the shops in Qaisary Bazaar has been arrested, and in the next few days, the details will be announced to the public.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A press conference held on Sunday, regarding the fire incident in Qaisary Bazaar which occurred in May this year. The Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw gave the most updated information about the incident.

“After the fire incident occurred in this historical market, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Masrour Barzani recommended all the related departments in the government and officials to deal with that urgently” The Governor Khoshnaw stated.

According to Khoshnaw’s announcement, the reconstruction work started immediately, and two companies were given the agreement to finish the work with a standard quality, and a good time. The day after the agreement took place, the 2 companies started their work.  

Khoshnaw stated “The reconstruction is going well, and 3 shifts are covering to rebuild the burnt part, according to the standards of the archeological guidance”

“Today, we paid the site a visit, and reassured the workers to finish within the timeline has been agreed about according to the terms and conditions of the contract, and the legal timeframe is 1 year, we followed up, it should finish less than that, it will be done in 6 months” He added.

Khoshnaw confirmed that the person who set the fire, got arrested. In the next few days, the details will be announced to the public.

“The dedicated budget to Qaisary reconstruction is 5 billion and 300 million Iraqi dinars, the self-employed and workers won’t get charged for any rubbish collection VAT” He continued.
