ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A new marketing center has been established in Koya to receive wheat from farmers in the Koya plain.
The Kurdistan Region’s acting Minister of Natural Resources Kamal Mohammed, emphasized that farmers should not pay any money to unions or organizations to deliver their wheat.
At the inauguration of the wheat receiving center in Koya, Minister Mohammed stated, “The opening of this center is to facilitate the work of farmers in the Koya plain and the region, ensuring a smooth process without any issues.”
He reiterated that the wheat collection process will be supported solely by the Ministry of Agriculture, and farmers are not required to make any payments to external entities.
Haider Karrawi, Director General of the Grain Marketing Company, highlighted that the establishment of the wheat marketing center in Koya represents a collaborative effort between the KRG and the Iraqi government to bolster the agricultural sector.

Karrawi also mentioned that the collection of wheat from farmers in Erbil, Duhok, and Sulaimani will continue in stages until the total required amount is reached, with payments to farmers being made incrementally.
