ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The "Documenting Old Trees" project in the Kurdistan Region has marked a significant milestone by officially registering 100 trees, each approximately 500 years old.

At a press conference held on Saturday, project manager Hajar Abdullah revealed that the initiative commenced in the Khormal and Halabja areas before expanding to Chwarta in Sulaimani, renowned for its abundance of ancient trees.

Modern environmental identification signs have been strategically placed at these historic sites, making them of international interest.

"These trees are poised to become significant tourist attractions, warranting our utmost attention to this project," Abdullah emphasized.

The project's scope extends across the entire Kurdistan Region, with Abdullah urging the public to contribute any knowledge of ancient trees. "We have now documented 100 ancient trees across Kurdistan," he confirmed.
