Erbil launches campaign to chlorinate water wells for summer
"All wells directly connected to the water network, including those that supply reservoirs, are chlorinated. We also chlorinate wells connected to neighborhood and village networks before the water enters the grid," Saadi explained.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The director of the water wells around Erbil announced the launch of a campaign to chlorinate the wells in Erbil province to ensure clean water for citizens this summer.
On Sunday, Rezan Saadi, director of water wells around Erbil, told Kurdistan24, "We have started a campaign to chlorinate the 1,570 wells around Erbil, which will continue until the end of the summer season."
"All wells directly connected to the water network, including those that supply reservoirs, are chlorinated. We also chlorinate wells connected to neighborhood and village networks before the water enters the grid," Saadi explained.
She added, "There are 800 reservoirs around Erbil province. For the wells connected to these reservoirs, chlorine is added at the reservoir before the water enters the distribution system."
"All water that comes out of the wells must be chlorinated. When the water exits the well and enters the reservoir, it must be clean and chlorinated before being provided to citizens," Saadi emphasized.
"We clean the reservoirs every six months and distribute chlorine to all the wells. This is managed by a special committee called the laboratory department, which continuously monitors water resources," she noted.
There are 800 water reservoirs and approximately 1,600 wells in Erbil province, which provide clean water to the citizens of villages and towns in central Erbil.
