Iraqi National Security Council condemns Turkish military incursions

To address the situation further, Prime Minister al-Sudani appointed a delegation led by the National Security Advisor to visit the Kurdistan Region.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Yehia Rasool, spokesperson for the Iraqi Commander-in-Chief, announced on Wednesday that the Iraqi Ministerial Council for National Security, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, held a crucial meeting to address recent Turkish military incursions in the joint border areas.

The council expressed strong condemnation of the Turkish army's invasion and military violations on Iraqi soil. Emphasizing the importance of good neighborly relations, they urged Turkey to adhere to diplomatic channels in addressing any security concerns with the Iraqi government.

To address the situation further, Prime Minister al-Sudani appointed a delegation led by the National Security Advisor to visit the Kurdistan Region. The delegation's mission is to assess the situation on the ground and formulate a unified response to the violations, safeguarding Iraqi sovereignty.

The Iraqi Ministerial Council for National Security also called on all parties to support the government's stance, in line with the constitution. The government firmly opposes any attacks on its territory and strictly prohibits the use of Iraqi land for launching assaults on neighboring countries.
