ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Akram Salih, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)’s 22nd Garmian branch, condemned the explosion targeting his vehicle as a "terrorist act" and called on security forces to "conduct a thorough investigation into the incident."
Speaking at a news conference, Salih described the explosion that occurred in front of his house on Monday morning.
He stated that a "sticky bomb" had been placed on his vehicle. Salih reported that he, his driver, and a Peshmerga were slightly injured in the attack, and his car was completely burned.
"The head of the Garmian branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident," Salih emphasized.
"We will await the results of the investigations. CCTV records at the residence as well as the neighborhood will be available to facilitate the investigations so that we can identify the perpetrators of this attack," he added.
"We have no preliminary problems and we are waiting for the results of the security forces' investigation," Salih added. "The act was big and cannot be done by inexperienced people because the bomb was attached under a tire near my seat."
Salih believes he was monitored before the incident. "First, my car was in the yard, then I took the driver out; it was controlled and detonated from a distance," he explained.
