KRG officials tackle key election preparations

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Umed Sabah, President of the Diwan of the Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), held a critical meeting on Friday with Marwan Mohammed Salih, the Director of the Election Office of Erbil Province, to review and address the necessary preparations for the upcoming elections.

The meeting centered on ensuring the Election Commission's readiness to conduct a free and fair election. Director Salih outlined several urgent requirements for the smooth operation of voter registration centers. Among these was the need for uninterrupted 24-hour electricity, a constant police presence, and reliable internet connectivity.

Additional concerns were raised regarding the lack of fire trucks in the Election Commission's warehouses, an issue that requires coordination with the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The need for additional vehicles to enhance the efficiency of the Election Office was also highlighted.

The discussion also touched on the allocation of land to the civil servants of the Election Commission, a matter that awaits approval from Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
