Koya receives major tourism boost with 54 million dinar investment

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism has initiated a significant tourism development project in Koya, valued at over 54 million dinars.
The funding, sourced from tourism revenues within the jurisdiction of the General Directorate of Tourism in Erbil, aims to enhance and diversify the tourist attractions in Koya.
Key developments include the construction of prayer areas and restrooms around key tourist sites, as well as the addition of huts, seating, and children's playgrounds at the Hamamuk Dam.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism has clarified that the allocation of these funds complies with two ministerial decrees concerning tourism revenues in Erbil, adhering to all relevant financial laws and regulations.
This investment underscores the KRG's commitment to boosting the tourism sector and leveraging tourism revenue further to enhance visitor experiences and infrastructure in the region.
