Iraqi Economic Delegation's Erbil Visit Signals Positive Shift in Erbil-Baghdad Relations

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In a move hailed as a significant step towards resolving longstanding economic disputes, a high-level delegation from the Iraqi Economic Ministerial Council is set to arrive in Erbil this evening.

The delegation, led by Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Council Chairman Fuad Hussein, is scheduled to commence discussions with senior Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials tomorrow.

Dr. Ammar Khalaf, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, expressed optimism about the visit, calling it an "important and positive step" to address outstanding economic issues between Erbil and Baghdad.

The delegation's visit follows a proposal by Dr. Fuad Hussein, aimed at bridging the gap and finding solutions to the economic challenges that have strained relations between the two governments.

Key topics on the agenda include the management of border crossings, addressing concerns about Iraqi checkpoints hindering the export of agricultural products, unifying the financial system, and resolving issues related to salaries and the budget.

Dr. Khalil Ghazi, a member of the Iraqi parliament's finance committee, emphasized the importance of the visit in fostering closer ties and resolving economic problems.
