ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In a suspected ISIS attack, two Iraqi army officers were killed and two soldiers injured when their vehicle was ambushed near the town of Dibis, southwest of Kirkuk province, on Friday morning.

A security source informed Kurdistan 24 that the attack occurred as the army vehicle was traveling along a main road outside the town. The assailants opened fire, resulting in the immediate deaths of the two officers and injuries to the two soldiers.

The source indicated that the attack is likely the work of ISIS, given the group's known presence in the region and history of similar attacks.

Following the ambush, an army force swiftly arrived at the scene, securing the area, and evacuating the casualties. They then launched a search operation in pursuit of the attackers.
