ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani is set to inaugurate the Slevana factory in the Zakho Independent Administration on Saturday, a facility dedicated to marketing wheat produced by local farmers.

This move underscores the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) commitment to empowering local communities and bolstering the agricultural sector.

The establishment of the Zakho Independent Administration in 2021 exemplifies the ninth cabinet's focus on decentralization, aimed at streamlining administrative affairs and increasing decision-making power at the provincial level.

This strategic move has ushered in an era of greater prosperity and efficiency in Zakho.

Since gaining independent administration status, Zakho has witnessed the approval of 13 major strategic projects valued at over $83 million, significantly revitalizing the region's commercial, tourism, and industrial sectors.

Furthermore, the Zakho General Directorate of Investment has received proposals for numerous additional investment projects, which are currently under review for approval.

The Slevana factory is just one example of the progress Zakho has made under its new administrative structure. To date, a total of 286 projects have been greenlit in the region, with 218 already completed and another 68 currently in progress.

This latest initiative further demonstrates the KRG's commitment to supporting local farmers and promoting economic development in all corners of the Kurdistan Region.

By facilitating the marketing of locally produced wheat, the Slevana factory will not only provide a valuable service to farmers but also contribute to the region's food security and economic self-sufficiency.
