ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Iraq's unemployment rate currently stands at a concerning 14.2%, ranking it 32nd highest globally and ninth among Arab countries.

This sobering statistic, according to CEOWorld Magazine, places Iraq's unemployment rate even higher than that of North Korea, underscoring the persistent economic difficulties facing the nation.

The ranking, encompassing 212 countries and regions, reveals a stark picture of global unemployment. Sudan leads with an alarming 49.5% unemployment rate, followed by Pakistan at 48% and South Africa at 33.5%.

While North Korea registers a low rate of 2.7%, Iraq's 14.2% unemployment rate is a stark reminder of its ongoing economic struggles.

The list further shows that four of the countries with the highest unemployment are Arab nations, while seven are from the African continent. Within the Arab world, Sudan tops the list, followed by Djibouti, Palestine, and Iraq.

In contrast, Qatar boasts the lowest unemployment rate at a mere 0.3%, highlighting the economic disparity among countries in the region.

These figures highlight the urgent need for Iraq to address its economic challenges and create more job opportunities for its citizens.

The high unemployment rate not only affects individuals and families but also hampers the country's overall development and prosperity.
