Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended bell-ringing ceremony of school start day
The Start Day for the Academic Year 2024-2025 in Kurdistan Region, on Wednesday, the ceremony held in Najiba Khan Jalizada school in Koya town.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended the bell-ringing ceremony of the Start Day for the Academic Year 2024-2025 in Kurdistan Region, on Wednesday, in Najiba Khan Jalizada in Koya town.
The Premier gave a speech to the pupils, teacher and audience in the school, extended his congratulations to all the pupils and teachers for the beginning of the academic year 2024-2025, also stressed that teachers have always been at the frontline for serving our people and country by educating the new generation.
The Prime Minister presented well-wishes on the new academic year 2024-2025, a year of peace, success and happiness for all pupils “from now on I wish success to all dear pupils in this school and all over Kurdistan”
The Premier explained why the school named after Najiba Khan “Najiba Khan was the daughter of the well-known religious preacher called Malai Gawra in Koya, the first girl sent to a mixed school, 100 years ago. At that time, the issue of gender discrimination was very prominent not only in Kurdistan but also in the whole world, but with getting Najiba Khan registered and sending her to a mixed school marked a beginning of a new era”
Koya is very famous for being the center of science, knowledge, poetry, progress, many scholars and great people have been located there.
Today is the seventh anniversary of the Kurdistan Region's Independence Referendum, “today is a sacred day of the referendum and I congratulate all the people of Kurdistan on this occasion and historic day," The Premier stressed and gave two nice updates to Koya residents "we will start the construction of the Erbil-Koya major road in the next few days, which has been a long-standing wish by the people of Koya and Erbil,"
"I know that efforts had been made since 2012 and the cornerstone was laid for this road, but for various reasons this project has not been accomplished yet. I hope in the next few days, Esha Allah -God willing, we have decided to start completing this project” The Prime Minister Barzani announced.
Another good news for Koya’s residents "we have decided to change Taqtaq to District as one of the oldest sub-districts in Kurdistan, which will help the residents of the area, reduce the administrative burden on Koya, and hopefully, this will serve all Kurds, especially Koya and Taqtaq’s residents”
Regarding the election campaign that has started on Wednesday, the Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stated highlighted as a historic day for all the people in the Kurdistan Region, and called on political parties to start a peaceful and civilized campaign.
“The success of the election and appointing representatives to be serving our people and country more and en sha Allah to ensure our people’s rights”
The first mixed school in the country emerged in Koya a hundred years ago.
