Stunning phenomenon seen at Friday night in Catalonia
It is said it can, probably reappear tonight too! The Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) posted a short video through their X platform.
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – It is the second time, this year, a unique phenomenon was seen in Catalonia’s evening sky at the Friday night, on October 11th, 2024.
It is known as the Northern lights, its colours divided into pink, blue and green, last night the lights covered in the sky.
It is said it can, probably reappear tonight too! The Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) posted a short video through their X platform.
It is believed to occur due to an intense solar storm, experts announced that the sun was in a cycle of heightened activity, releasing larger-than-usual solar flares, as well as thought to be unharmed to the earth planet.
As it is rare to be seen as in 150 years, and has been triggered by a powerful solar storm, it is a chance to see those lights. According to the official sources, is very rare, especially in Spain.
Many people travel to the northern Europe countries e.g. Norway or Iceland to watch that planet’s phenomenon.
Yet, this year, in May and now in October, to reappearing in Catalan and near Barcelona’s sky, the residents have been stunned watching extraordinary moments of the northern lights in many parts of the territory.
Catalonia, Catalan Catalunya Spanish Cataluña, has an autonomous community and historic region in northeastern Spain.
