ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, has reported that the special voting process for security and military forces in the Kurdistan Region's sixth parliamentary elections is proceeding smoothly and without significant issues.

On Friday afternoon, Governor Khoshnaw, accompanied by Marwan Mohammed Najjar, head of the Erbil office of Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), and Khosro Gazi, Director of Internal Affairs for the governorate, conducted visits to several polling stations in Erbil city to personally assess the voting process.

Following his tour, Khoshnaw confirmed the readiness of all preparations and stated, "Fortunately, no violations have been recorded so far. The process is proceeding calmly, and no significant problems have occurred at any of the polling stations."

The Governor emphasized the efficiency of the process, saying, "The voting is taking place without shortcomings, in a very organized manner, and free of issues. We are in constant communication with the Erbil office of IHEC to address any problems that may arise."

This positive report from the Erbil Governor aligns with earlier statements from electoral officials, painting a picture of a well-organized and peaceful voting process in the Kurdistan Region's capital.

The special voting, which began at 7:00 AM, is set to conclude at 6:00 PM. It's specifically for security forces and other eligible special voters, with the general election scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024.

The smooth conduct of the special voting process in Erbil, home to the Kurdistan Regional Government's seat, sets an encouraging tone for the upcoming general election.

The success of this preliminary voting stage in Erbil bodes well for the main event on Sunday.
