ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region's Anti-Narcotics Directorate announced on Sunday, the successful seizure of 11 kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of a foreign trafficker in Erbil.
According to the directorate's statement, the operation was conducted on Nov. 8, 2024, following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering, with proper judicial authorization.
The drugs were intercepted within Erbil city limits.
The investigation revealed that the seized cocaine had been smuggled from Guinea to the Kurdistan Region.
The arrested foreign national has reportedly been involved in drug trafficking operations for several years.
The suspect is currently under investigation and will be prosecuted according to the Law on Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances.
