ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Technical Director of Statistics in Erbil announced on Thursday that the city's census registration has reached an 80% completion rate, with efforts underway to achieve 100% coverage by the end of the day.
"While we require 100% participation, our implementation rate from last night until now stands at 80%. We are working to complete today's data collection to reach full coverage," Ibrahim Mala Rahman, Technical Director of Statistics in Erbil, told Kurdistan24 in an exclusive interview.
Rahman explained that some neighborhoods proved larger than initially anticipated, prompting the deployment of additional enumerators to ensure complete coverage within today's deadline.
The census operation has taken into account the unique demographic situation in the Erbil plains, where many residents originally from Kirkuk, Makhmour, and other areas outside the Kurdistan Region's administration have requested registration in their places of origin.
"We've made provisions for those unable to return to their original locations to register at their current residences to ensure their rights are preserved," Rahman noted.
Addressing technical concerns, Rahman reported that tablet-related issues have been minimal compared to the operation's scale. "Our technical team has successfully resolved any challenges that arose. With approximately 10,000 people involved, including enumerators and administrative support, the process is progressing smoothly," he added.
