ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced the preliminary results of the nationwide census during a press conference on Monday, revealing significant demographic insights about the country's population.
"Iraq's total population has exceeded 45 million 407 thousand people," al-Sudani announced, adding that "70.3 percent of the population lives in urban areas, while 29.7 percent resides in rural areas."
According to the preliminary census results, the Prime Minister reported that the total number of households in Iraq has reached 7,898,588, with an average household size of 5.3 persons.
The gender distribution shows a nearly even split, with males numbering 22,784,062 (50.1 percent of the population) and females totaling 22,623,833 (49.8 percent of the population).
The preliminary results of Iraq's nationwide census, including the Kurdistan Region, have revealed detailed demographic data showing a total population exceeding 45.407 million people.
