ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Sunday issued a statement on the latest developments in Syria, describing the rapid changes and the collapse of the ruling regime as marking the beginning of a new era for the country.
"We respect the decision and will of the Syrian people and hope that the future of Syria will be free, peaceful, and stable, with the rights of all peoples and communities protected," the statement read.
Syrian insurgent forces, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), have gained control of significant portions of Syrian territory. On Sunday, these forces captured Damascus, leading to the departure of President Bashar al-Assad from the country.
