Kurdistan Region, France sign MoU to enhance crisis management capabilities

According to a statement issued by the KRG's Interior Ministry, the MoU will serve as a general roadmap for the upcoming phase's coordination and collaborative work between the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) and Expertise France.

ERBIL (Kurdista24) – On Monday, under the supervision of Kurdistan Region’s Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed and the French Consul General in Erbil Yann Braem, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Sirwa Rasul, Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), and Tahar Benattia, Program Director of Expertise France in Iraq.

According to a statement issued by the KRG's Interior Ministry, the MoU will serve as a general roadmap for the upcoming phase's coordination and collaborative work between the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC) and Expertise France.

The statement highlighted that "this MoU signifies another step toward constructing and enhancing Kurdistan Region’s institutional infrastructure and bringing the crisis and disaster management system to another level."

Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed and French Consul General Yann Braem emphasized the importance of this agreement during a press conference.

The Interior Minister stated that Expertise France, via the European Union, has assigned 1.5 million euros for the initial phase of the project.

This funding will help efforts to improve community resilience and disaster response abilities.

The partnership aspires to benefit from France's experience while providing logistical abilities and knowledge in the field, particularly for civil defense teams.
