Turkey seeks to undermine Kurdish gains in northeastern Syria, says DEM Party Co-Chair
Hatimoğulları called for the establishment of a “democratic and multi-communal Syria” that ensures the rights of Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Sunnis, Alawites, Christians, Muslims, and all communities.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Tülay Hatimoğulları, Co-Chair of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (aka DEM Party), accused Turkey of seeking to dismantle Kurdish advancements in northeastern Syria (Rojava) during a press conference on Wednesday.
“In addition to continuing military operations, Turkey has also made diplomatic efforts. We have repeatedly asked the Turkish government to understand that the Kurds in northeastern Syria are not Turkey's enemies, but they have not listened to us,” Hatimoğulları said.
Hatimoğulları called for the establishment of a “democratic and multi-communal Syria” that ensures the rights of Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Sunnis, Alawites, Christians, Muslims, and all communities.
His remarks come amid reports of Turkish-backed armed groups attempting to advance into areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces. The White House has previously warned that Turkey's continued conflict with the Kurds in Rojava could provide fertile ground for the resurgence of ISIS, heightening security risks in the region.
