ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — On Tuesday, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani engaged in high-level diplomatic discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara, marking a significant development in the ongoing strategic dialogue between Erbil and Ankara.
As said by an official statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the bilateral talks focused on boosting strategic cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey.
The discussions also addressed broader developments in Iraq and regional dynamics.
The diplomatic engagement came before Prime Minister Barzani's expected meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, scheduled for later today, indicating a strengthening of high-level contacts between the two governments.
The current diplomatic mission builds upon previous strategic engagements, particularly Prime Minister Barzani's official visit to Ankara on June 20, 2024, during which considerable discussions were held with President Erdogan and Foreign Minister Fidan.
These continued diplomatic dialogues and meetings reflect the evolving nature of Kurdistan Region-Turkey relations within a rapidly transforming regional landscape.
