Erbil (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region (KRG) has experienced a notable surge in company registrations, driven by the adoption of streamlined digital processes.
Data from the Directorate of Companies Registration reveals that the total number of registered enterprises in the region has reached 38,273, underscoring a vibrant and diversified investment environment.
Turkish companies dominate the list with 1,593 registrations, followed by businesses from Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Lebanon, underscoring the Kurdistan Region's appeal as an investment hub.
In 2024, KRG registered 2,328 new companies, reflecting an improved investment climate facilitated by the government’s introduction of an electronic registration system that reduced the process from one week to a single day.
Registration fees have been significantly reduced from 3 million dinars to 165,000 dinars, aimed at attracting both local and foreign investors, while the Region's transition toward digital transformation has enhanced coordination between governmental institutions, ensuring efficient services for citizens and businesses alike.
Since August 2018, the Kurdistan Region Investment Board has issued licenses for 863 projects with an estimated value of $51 billion by June 2019.
Investments from 15 countries have contributed $6.03 billion in capital through 43 projects.
Turkish and Lebanese companies have also led in the number of projects, while UAE firms ranked first in capital investment, allocating $3.3 billion across three projects compared to Turkey’s $1.2 billion in 15 projects.
