ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) spokesperson, Peshawa Hawramani, announced on Sunday during a press conference that there is a mutual understanding between the two technical delegations of the KRG and the Iraqi government, with serious intentions to resolve all issues and the salaries of civil servants in the Kurdistan Region will be sent in a couple of days.

The spokesperson also stated that the KRG views the amendment to the budget law by the Iraqi parliament as a positive step and congratulates the Kurdish factions in the Iraqi parliament and all those who played a role in passing the amendment.

“The KRG has announced that it will seek a solution to all disputes between Erbil and Baghdad,” Hawramani added.

He stressed that the KRG has fulfilled its obligations and will not shy away from responsibility. "We consider it our duty to regain the rights of the Kurdistan Region from the federal government through agreement, negotiation, and compliance with the constitution," he said.

Moreover, he pointed out that we do not want the civil servants of the Kurdistan Region to be disheartened or for the scenario of last year to be repeated this year; rather, we want to receive salaries on time, like in any other region of Iraq.

Regarding the amendment of the budget law and oil exports, Peshawa explained that they sell oil through the State Organization for Marketing of Oil (SOMO), in exchange for which the federal government must pay the salaries of the Kurdistan Region civil servants.

Hawraman's statement came after the Iraqi Parliament approved a key amendment to the federal budget law on Sunday. This crucial step will allow oil exports from the Kurdistan Region to resume.
