President Masoud Barzani, UK Ambassador discuss regional stability

The discussions focused on strengthening regional stability, addressing the challenges facing the Kurdish people in Syria, and fostering cooperation between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi government.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – President Masoud Barzani met with outgoing British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen, on Wednesday in Erbil’s Pirmam district to discuss key political and security developments in the region, according to a statement from Barzani Headquarters.  

The discussions focused on strengthening regional stability, addressing the challenges facing the Kurdish people in Syria, and fostering cooperation between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi government. Both leaders also exchanged views on the next steps in forming the new KRG cabinet, highlighting a commitment to political progress and constructive dialogue.  

The meeting underscored the ongoing partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom, reaffirming a shared vision for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
