PM Barzani, US diplomat discuss strengthening ties and progress on key reforms

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Daniel Rubinstein, Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Baghdad, on Wednesday to reinforce the region's strong partnership with the US, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
The meeting, also attended by US Consul General Steven Bitner, highlighted positive developments in several key areas, including ongoing reforms in the Peshmerga forces, efforts to resume oil exports, and progress in resolving disputes between Erbil and Baghdad.
Both sides expressed optimism regarding forming the KRG’s new cabinet, emphasizing that negotiations are moving forward constructively. They agreed that swiftly establishing the tenth cabinet is important to further the government's reform agenda and ensure equitable service delivery across the Kurdistan Region.
In addition to regional matters, discussions also touched on developments in Syria, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to regional stability.
