Peshmerga forces rescue shepherds from ISIS ambush in Saladin Province

According to Kurdistan24 reporter Harem Jaf, the attack took place while three shepherds were grazing their animals between the villages of Gharra and Duraji, near the border of the Nawjul sub-district.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Peshmerga Ministry of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced on Wednesday that a sleeper cell of ISIS ambushed several shepherds in the Tuz Khurma district of Iraq's Saladin province.  

In response, Peshmerga forces swiftly mobilized to the area, successfully rescuing the shepherds. The ministry confirmed that after receiving an alert about the attack, a Peshmerga unit was immediately deployed, securing the safety of the shepherds while the ISIS militants fled to an unknown location.  

The incident occurred in the village of Duraji, located between Kifri and Tuz Khurma. According to Kurdistan24 reporter Harem Jaf, the attack took place while three shepherds were grazing their animals between the villages of Gharra and Duraji, near the border of the Nawjul sub-district. The shepherds encountered six ISIS fighters, leading to heavy clashes.  

The Peshmerga Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism, stating that its forces will remain vigilant and resolute in confronting any threats posed by ISIS in the region.
